3 markets to watch next week

US presidential elections are drawing near. Trump and Biden will face each other in a final debate next week. Reports from US tech companies will dominate the earnings calendar while European investors will focus on a fresh set of PMIs. Watch these 3 markets in the coming days!

US President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Biden will face each other during the final debate on Thursday, 2:00 am BST. Previous face-off was chaotic and none of contenders emerged as a clear winner. Will this time be different? There is a high chance that debate will also center on personal attacks. This will be the last skirmish ahead of Nov. 3 elections and USD will surely be on watch.

Big US banks showed solid earnings reports last week. Some big tech names will release their Q3 results over the next few days, including Tesla (Wednesday), Netflix (Tuesday) and Intel (Thursday). US100 trades around 1% off the all-time high at the beginning of this week but gave back part of the gains. Reports will be an important driver for the index and may offer fresh fuel for bulls.

European stock markets slumped on Thursday as fears over new lockdowns increased. Decision on Covid-19 restrictions will remain on watch next week but investors will also get some survey data from the Old Continent. Preliminary PMI indices for October will be released next Friday with key German reading scheduled for 8:30 am BST. Deterioration in both services and manufacturing is expected.
